As the frosty tendrils of Old Man Winter curl around the Magic Valley bestowing intricately crystallized designs upon windshields and requiring an extra layer be donned before stepping into the awaiting crisp breeze, Zulu Bagels and Java Jungle in Twin Falls provides the perfect escape. Though a drive-thru is available for those with places to go and people to see, the real experience lies in the laid back ambiance offered by this old world Italian setting fused with modern flare. Cobblestones line walls boast both ornate wrought iron designs and color-splashed African prints.
Offering over 60 drink combinations, the baristas take pride in crafting each beverage to specification. “We make each item individually and that’s not something that can be rushed,” notes Mike Shelter, new general manager of Zulu. “We want to do the job right and provide customers quality that can be counted on which is an element that was lacking before.”
While waiting for the preparation of a delectable coffee drink or scrumptious bagel creation (both sandwiches and flavored cream cheese options are available) patrons can be found browsing wine and exotic beer selections, kicking back with a group of friends or taking advantage of the free wifi offered.
“I come here almost every day for homework,” College of Southern Idaho student, Laura Baily confides. “Drinking a mocha makes algebra slightly better.”
The party doesn’t end with coffee and bagels at Zulu’s Addison Street location, however. Venture up the winding stone staircase for a lounge experience unique in Twin Falls for ‘Zulu After Hours’ from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 4 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. If the wine, micro beer and selection of meat and cheese platters aren’t enough to temp you, dynamic strains of live acoustic guitar strings should do the rest. This energetic ambiance is an experience not to be missed.

Zulu’s is a great place to hang out and lounge with a beautiful ambiance not typically found in local establishments. With their free wi-fi, music, fireplace and outside/heated seating it is a lovely place to study, read, socialize, have a meeting, or take a date for intimate conversation.
