Whenever I have a photo shoot in the Hailey, Shoshone or Gooding area I always take the back roads. For me that means taking the old Dietrich Hwy (hwy 26) from the Rupert area. Once I hit Shoshone (and if I’m Hailey bound) its a straight shot north to Hailey. I often stop especially if the light is at the right angle to photograph , or just enjoy the unique lava beds. They are located about 10 miles north of Shoshone on Hyw 75.
This shot was the first time I had been through the beds just after a fresh snow and with perfect light. It kinda reminded me of an old Bev Doolittle painting.
So where exactly are these lava beds. I’d like to see them for myself as they look very interesting.
Tim, they are located about 10 miles north of Shoshone on Hyw 75.
