In the spirit of this issue’s County Fair cover, I’d like to share with you my top 5 fair favorites:

1- Camas’ bed races are hilarious.
2- Lawnmower races at Minidoka’s fair, where souped-up lawn tractors reach speeds up to 40 miles per hour. It’s intense!
3- Rodeos. Need I say more? There’s nothing like hanging out in the grandstands with old friends and watching the thrills and spills that only rodeo can deliver.
4- Cassia’s maple bars. There’s a reason the line wraps around the block.
5- I’m keeping this last slot open, because every year I find something new that becomes a favorite. Every fair season brings a new twist to the old fair traditions.

Indeed, summertime in Southern Idaho wouldn’t be the same without its array of county fairs. Our County Fairs Guide will get you ready for all the fun.
Also in this issue, you’ll find plenty of events and activities to keep you busy all summer, along with in-depth profiles on some of our most intriguing residents.
Welcome to summer. Get out and enjoy all that Southern Idaho has to offer. Don’t forget to take along the sunscreen, lots of water, and — of course — this issue of Southern Idaho Living. It makes for good reading while lying in the hammock, sunning on the boat or waiting for a parade to start!
