I receive daily calls from my brother Cal, who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our conversation usually begins by him asking, “What are you doing?” If I’m sitting in my home office or out on my deck, my reply is, “Oh, just sitting here, watching the Snake River channel.” I can’t help but rub it in, as Cal sits in gridlock traffic.

This time of year, looking out my office window overlooking the river is like watching a series on the Discovery Channel. I love to “tune in” to the annual Southern Idaho Bald Eagles Show. It’s an awe-inspiring experience to watch our nation’s bird soar against an azure sky, or swoop down and pluck a fish from the water (now why can’t I catch a bass that easy?). I’ve always been intrigued by our winter visitors, so deciding on a cover story for this issue was a no-brainer.

You know what they say about time flying. We’ll forever cherish 2007, as it was the year we started bringing Southern Idaho Living into your homes. It’s been a huge success, and we’ve got some great things in store for you in 2008, so stay tuned!

We hope your 2008 is filled with joy, happiness, prosperity, and the manifestation of all your desires.
