The creaking of wooden floors can almost compete with the volume of the many conversations simultaneously taking place in the old Bruneau Legion Hall. A welcoming smell of leather, scented candles and fresh baked goods fills every room. The walls are nearly bursting with crafty vendors and eager shoppers – it’s a familiar scene to the local folks of the small and quaint town of Bruneau Idaho.
It’s time again for the annual Bruneau Cowboy Christmas Show. It takes place the third weekend in November at the Bruneau Legion Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday Cowboy Church starts at 8:30. There is no admission but everyone is asked to bring nonperishable canned goods to donate to the community food drive. Everyone that brings canned food will be entered in drawings for door prizes provided by the vendors.
Started in 2000, this show is held to benefit the community. Browse through the various handmade items ranging from woodworking, silver items, quilts, jams and jellies, jewelry, art, furniture, and clothing, to authors with their books. There is also a baked goods sale. Event coordinator, Becky Miller said, “It’s a great place to find unique Christmas gifts from Southern Idaho artisans.” This show is known for the high quality western arts and crafts and many items are one of a kind
This community event consists of 95% handmade items by 40 different artisans. In addition there are items for children and Santa will be there for all the good little boys and girls. The Cowboy Café serves White Chili, Beef Stew, Cornbread, and homemade desserts. This event is handicapped accessible. Bring the whole family, get into the holiday spirit and do some Christmas shopping at the Bruneau Cowboy Christmas Show. There is something for everyone.
